Week One in KaNyamazane

First week in KaNyamazane is over and out, and what an amazing experience it was.

KaNyamazane is a mixture of a township and a bunch of villages.  We usually drive around a truck, but it's in the shop at the moment.  The people here a so humble, and are truly prepared for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Wednesday, we came across a cool family in a small shack.  We striked up a conversation with them, and we were enjoying our time with them.  When we introduced the church, the old grandma stated, "Oh, so you're one of those devil woshipers!"  (sidenote: look at the tag... 'Church of JESUS CHRIST'....)  We very quickly assured her that we were nothing of the sort, testifying that we worshiped only God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.  The Grandma never bought it, but we continued talking to her family.

As the conversation continued, the young children ran up to us, mesmerized at our light complexion.  I greeted them and began to talk to them in Swathi, the local language.  Immediately, the old grandma began speaking excitedly to me, obviously touched by the act.  Within a few minutes, she said, "Are you too young to marry my daughter?" (Note: she called us devil worshippers a few minutes prior.)

Yep, just another day in the life of a missionary in Africa.

On Sunday, we were visited in the branch by President Dunn.  It is pretty rare for him to visit us all the way up here in KaNyamazane, so we enjoyed his presence.

Today is my birthday!!  I'm officially 19 years old.  I've had so many birthday wishes from home and abroad.  Thank you everyone for your wishes, and my prayers are directed to you all.

Sale Kahle!
